The Northern region counties including Isiolo, Laikipia, Samburu, Meru, Baringo, Marsabit, Wajir and Garissa are among beautiful destinations in the country with vast rangelands, scenic views & landscapes, wildlife, precious stones, natural water bodies, rich cultural diversity, and a nomadic way of living. In the midst of all these beauty, resource- based conflict is always brewing. Conflict among pastoralist communities is the order of the day resulting from violent competition over land, pasture, water points, boundary disputes, cattle rustling and ethnic rivalry. Conflict in the region is made worse by natural and human calamities that put stress on natural resources. Of interest in the region, is impacts of negative climate change that has led to an increase in the frequency and intensity of natural disasters, natural resource scarcity, and environmental degradation, which in many contexts has contributed to the exacerbation of competition and conflict in the Ewaso Ng’iro North ecosystem. Therefore, to mitigate resource- based conflict as a result of degrading resources, Regional Pastoralists Peace Link and Stakeholders engage in deliberate advocacy tools using the following advocacy tools”
The 2023 camel caravan was unique in its nature because it focused on the involvement of upstream communities. There was great need to in- volve these communities for them to understand the impact of their ac- tivities to pastoralists in the mid and lower streams, and to collectively address the challenges facing all in the streams
